Commentaires : Nichols' play premiered at Citizens Theatre in Glasgow, before it transferred to the West End's Comedy Theatre, and then on to Broadway where it was nominated for the Tony Award for best play.
Subsequent revivals include two Broadway productions, and a West End revival at the Ambassadors Theatre starring Clive Owen and Victoria Hamilton. It transferred to the Comedy Theatre, where Eddie Izzard later took over the role from Owen. Izzard and Hamilton reprised their roles in a Broadway transfer of the play, as well as a TV adaptation.

Commentaires : The thriller was last seen in the West End in 1995, when it ran at the Vaudeville Theatre directed by Wilson Milam. The production hailed the unpredictability of the text, and gave Letts a reputation as one to watch. Other plays written by Letts include Bug, Man from Nebraska and Superior Donuts and he later adapted his play for cinema in 2012, directed by William Friedkin and starring Matthew McConaughey as Joe.
